Attorney General and Minister for Economy, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum says the government has programs in place to build more markets in various areas to make life easier for people.
While speaking at the reception of Special Administrators at Holiday Inn in Suva, Sayed-Khaiyum says he is not talking about tarpaulin markets but proper markets and they need the Municipal Councils to help them identify the areas in need.
He says that they need to ensure that people have to travel as little distance as possible to utilise the services they require.
Sayed Khaiyum says this is the reason why the government for the past couple of years has been allocating funding for minimarkets.
He adds they are doing this because most people are likely to live in these areas when they are older and old people won't like to travel long distances for these services.
