Teams all over Fiji are now conducting the 2017 Fiji Population and Housing Census count.
2,156 enumerators started visiting homes around the country from yesterday and this will continue until the 8th of October.
The teams are in Viti Levu, Vanua Levu, Lau, Kadavu and Lomaiviti.
The Census questions focus on population size, education, economic activity, fertility, communications, internet and agricultural activity.
The Fiji Bureau of Statistics advises the public that people should only allow census officers into their homes when they have produced a valid ID card that shows their name, picture, the validity and position and the government statistician’s signature.
The last census count was in 2007.
The population size was 837,271.
People are advised to give correct information as the vital information that is gathered in the census helps the country to plan for the future.
