The I-Taukei Land Trust Board will review the age at which people can access their land lease money.
This has been revealed by TLTB General Manager Tevita Kurivakadua after the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Economic Affairs member Sanjit Patel questioned Kuruvakadua if the age limit of 14 years was reasonable, when the Trust Board was making its submission on the Petition to review the distribution of lease money to personal accounts.
Patel says although the Board is making the right decision in safeguarding the children’s share of land lease money till they are over the age of fourteen, it is impractical to have the children access such a big amount of money at such a young age.
Patel says children at that age are yet to have any plans in place on how they want to use their money.
Kuruvakadua says they have taken note of this and they will be able to finalise a more practical age limit by the end of this year.
