FijiFirst candidate Penioni Ravunawa says some people want Fiji to be a Christian State but they do not even practice Christian principles according to the Bible.

Speaking in the iTaukei language at the FijiFirst campaign meeting in Tuirara in Nasinu, Ravunawa said an example is that at the entrance of his village there is a sign that says “Violence Free Village” but people are still fighting in the village.

Ravunawa says he would visit the prisons a lot and most of the inmates he would meet were Christians.

He says it is a true Christian principle to accept and treat everyone equally.

Ravunawa told Christians present at the campaign meeting that we are all Fijians and if they do not accept that everyone belongs in this country they are not serving God faithfully.

He also said that Jesus died on the cross for everyone and not only the iTaukei people.

Ravunawa says people within SODELPA want a Christian State but they still have a bad heart.

Meanwhile, SODELPA Leader Sitiveni Rabuka says Fiji to be a Christian State is not a SODELPA manifesto issue and there was no need to have a section in the constitution to say that Fiji is a secular state.

He believes that Fiji is already a Christian State.
