SODELPA Leader Sitiveni Rabuka continues to remain silent despite calls by a group led by SODELPA’s Vice President, Ro Dona Takalaiyale to have a Special General Meeting for the party before April.
Ro Dona has been calling for the Special General Meeting, saying that it is necessary to have this as some items on the agenda of the party’s 9th December 2017 meeting were not discussed, and many people are now calling for the meeting.
He says it is sad to see that all Rabuka could do was say that he is not sure whether Ro Dona is a paid financial member and whether his $2 membership is paid.
Ro Dona and his supporters say that they have witnesses that Opposition Leader, Ro Teimumu Kepa had paid the fees for all the Rewa members and had given $50.
They say that Ro Teimumu had paid for about 12 members and the party membership fee is $2 per member. According to the supporters, no receipt or change was issued to Ro Teimumu however the names of the people were recorded.
Ro Dona says Rabuka knows this.
Ro Dona says they want a Special General Meeting because they want to discuss the MOU signed between SODELPA and the People’s Democratic Party, the financial report and other matters that some constituencies want to bring up. He says these were not discussed.
Ro Dona Takalaiyale also stresses that he and his support group do not support PDP’s Vijay Singh to be SODELPA’s Vice President. Singh was elected in the 9th December meeting but his appointment was rescinded internally as Singh was not a financial member of SODELPA.
Ro Dona says they want representatives of the three confederacies to share the President and two Vice President positions. He says based on this, they will never support Vijay Singh as SODELPA Vice President.
The SODELPA Vice President says SODELPA President, Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu, Party Leader, Sitiveni Rabuka and General Secretary, Adi Litia Qionibaravi are trying to avoid the Special General Meeting.
When questioned by Legend FM News today, Adi Litia Qionibaravi only said that they will not comment as they are dealing with the issue internally.
Fijivillage has asked Rabuka several times for an interview on this issue.
He is yet to respond to our request and said that he wanted to know who is behind the group before he looks into the matter.
