Queen Victoria School and Adi Cakobau School lead the Legend FM and FM96 Coca-Cola Games medal tally this hour.
ACS is leading the Girls Division with 3 gold and 1 silver, Jasper Williams High School is in second place with 1 gold and 1 silver while Suva Grammar School is in third place with 1 gold.
QVS is leading the boys' division with 1 gold and 1 silver, RKS and Niusawa Methodist have 1 gold medal each while Marist Brothers High School has 1 silver and 2 bronze medals.
Xavier College is fourth with 1 gold.
The three gold medals for ACS came from Asinate Kasowaqa in the Senior Girls Long Jump, Loata Nabulagi in the Junior Girls Javelin and Moana Turaga in the Sub Junior Girls Discus.
Jasper Williams High School won its first gold medal in the
Junior Girls High Jump through Alumita Diunisi.
Hayley Mclaren of Saint Thomas High School settled for silver while Reama Verekauta of Saint Joseph’s Secondary School got bronze.
Suva Grammar School has also won a gold medal through Fane Sauvakacolo in the Intermediate Girls Triple Jump. Senimili Vakamino of ACS got silver while Talei Ledua of Holy Cross College got bronze.
Queen Victoria School won a gold medal in the Intermediate Boys Discus through Tupou Lecava-navanua who finished first with a throw of 44.50 metres.
The silver medal went to Revoni Nacuva of QVS while Taniela Rayalu of Marist got bronze.
Ratu Kadavulevu School won its first gold medal in the Senior Boys Shot Put after Mua Cavuilati’s throw of 13.96 metres.
The silver medal went to Isikeli Lumelume of Marist Brothers High School while Natabua High School’s Saimone Nalewabau got bronze.
Niusawa Methodist School’s Eremodo Tuinavau won gold in the Sub Junior Boys Javelin, Bruce Maue of Navatu Secondary took the silver medal while Siale Hawea took home the bronze.
In the 1,500 metres finals currently underway :
Camari Adilasaqa of Wainibuka Junior Secondary School won gold in the girls 1,500 metres while Melania Turaga of Jasper settled for silver and Lavenia Kororua got bronze.
John Raju of Xavier College won gold in the Sub Junior Boys 1,500 metres, Iowane Viani of Namosi Secondary School settled for silver while Mesulame Raivau of Nasasavia Secondary School got bronze.
Raju who is from Wailailai in Ba has dedicated the win to his younger brother who was born yesterday.
Looking at the 100 metres heats :
Natabua’s Shane Tuvusa recorded the fastest time in the Senior Boys 100 metres heats earlier this afternoon with a time of 11.04 seconds. The next best time going into the final tomorrow was recorded by Tony Lemeki of Marist with a time of 11.05 seconds. Jim Colasau of QVS and Alfred Turner of RKS have also qualified for the 100 metres finals tomorrow.
Banuve Tabakaucoro’s record which was set in 2011, stands at 10.43 seconds.
Marist’s Keasi Naidroka got injured during the race.
In the Senior Girls 100 metres heats, Makereta Naulu of ACS is the favorite as she recorded the fastest time of 12.59 seconds. Jasper’s Atelaite Buna recorded the second fastest time in the heat with a time of 12.94 seconds.
Nemani Medreilagi of Natabua recorded the fastest time of 10.88 seconds in the Intermediate Boys 100 metres heats.
Suva Grammar School’s Kolinio Radrudru beat Joseva Tabakaucoro of Marist in their heat. Radrudru who has just returned from the Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, clocked a time of 11.01 seconds. Tabakaucoro is also through to the final tomorrow after clocking a time of 11.08 seconds.
Tyrone Chambers of Natabua and James Cox of RKS have note qualified for the final tomorrow.
Heleina Young of Saint Joseph’s Secondary School is the favorite to win gold in the Intermediate Girls 100 metres after clocking the fastest time in the heats today. Heleina’s time is 12.07 seconds. The next best times were recorded by Salote Baravilala and Jessie Vakaloloma. Their times are 12.53 and 12.64 seconds respectively.
The 400 metres heats are currently underway.
The 1,500 metres finals will be held from 5.25pm today.
