Police are yet to confirm whether anyone will be taken to task for sharing the videos and photos of the horrific road accident in Nabou on Saturday.
With the Online Safety Act in place, Fijivillage has asked Police whether action will be taken against those who were circulating the videos and photos of the accident victims.
Police spokesperson, Jokatama Qio says they will release more information later but he believes that no one has been questioned regarding the issue.
There was growing outrage over the weekend about people sharing photos and videos of the accident on social media.
Acting Assistant Commissioner of Police Maretino Qiolevu asked social media users to stop the sharing of the Nabou accident photos and videos.
Qiolevu said that the victims of the road accident have families and it is heartless to be circulating the photos publicly.
He said that this practice shows the lack of respect some social media users have for others, particularly for the victims and their relatives.
However the photos and videos were still being shared over the weekend.
We are awaiting comments from the Police on whether they have made any progress in this situation.
