People on Koro Island have been strongly advised by the government to relocate their villages to higher grounds.
Many of the houses are located near the coastline and heavy waves come into the village areas during major storm surges.
The same situation occurred over the weekend as the Tropical Depression was passing Fiji.
Commissioner Eastern Luke Moroivalu said after Cyclone Winston, they have been advising villagers on Koro Island to relocate for their safety.
He said they do not want the situation like Cyclone Winston to be repeated.
However, Moroivalu said it is entirely up to the villagers if they want to move or not as that is their land.
He added that all the people who were sheltered at Koro High School after heavy waves swept away their temporary shelter over the weekend have returned to their villages.
