People in the Rakiraki town area are advised to evacuate to safe grounds or an evacuation centre immediately.

Rakiraki town is now closed and Naqoro flats and the Fiji Sugar Corporation roads are flooded.

The National Disaster Management Office says the water level at the Rakiraki station is above warning level and increasing.

Given the increasing level of water and the high tide at 9.52 tonight, it is of extreme importance that those living in these affected areas evacuate to safe grounds or an evacuation centre immediately.

People in the Rakiraki town area are advised to evacuate to the Penang Sangam High School as it is the nearest evacuation centre.

Police and the Office of the Provincial Administrator Ra are now monitoring the movement of people in and around Rakiraki town.

They are also on standby to assist with the evacuation.

Rakiraki businessman Azmat Ali says people living in the Rakiraki town area are now evacuating.

People in Rakiraki are advised to call 9904686, 9905363, or 7213817 if they need assistance.

Flood waters in parts of Navua are continuing to rise.

This was confirmed to Fijivillage by resident Sereana Senikarawa at Raiwaqa in Navua saying that roads are beginning to flood.

He says the water level at the Navua river is also rising.

Meanwhile,

A flood warning remains in force for low lying areas and small streams for the whole of fiji.

A flood warning remains in force for the low-lying areas and small streams adjacent and downstream of rakiraki town, wailotua station and wainibuka river.

A flood alert remains in force for the following areas:

Waimanu Station, Navolau Station and Nausori town.

There is still a heavy rain warning in force for the fiji group.

The tropical depression was located 385 kilometres west northwest of Nadi at 9.30pm.

The Nadi weather office say the tropical depression has a low chance of developing into a tropical cyclone.
