Prime Minister, Voreqe Bainimarama has directed that operations resume as normal at Tailevu North Technical College, following discussions with the Education Ministry in the Tailevu Provincial Council meeting.

Concerns were raised with the Prime Minister in the Council meeting to keep Tailevu North Technical College open as the Ministry of Education has plans to close down the school.

A concerned villager highlighted that the government should not take away knowledge from the students by closing down the school.

An official of the Ministry then explained that this is part of the Fiji Higher Education Commission finding to close down the school.

The official says that the Fiji Higher Education Commission   funds technical colleges and all the other schools.

He says an audit report was needed over the past years but was never given and this has hindered the running of the school.

The official also stated that they had spoken about it, and had come to a decision that the school should close down.
