Man on the run from St Giles after allegedly raping 3 women

A man who was on the run after allegedly raping three women and obtaining a financial advantage by deception, has now escaped from the custody of the St Giles Hospital.

The man who is known as Avinesh Kumar Raj as well as Vinesh Kumar Raj was admitted for evaluation at the hospital after he tried to harm himself following his arrest in Vatuwaqa late last month.

Using different aliases, he has been evading Police for some time and anyone with information that could assist Police locate him is kindly requested to call Crimestoppers on 919.

The man had allegedly raped three women after befriending them on facebook and then arranging to meet with them at the motel on separate occasions.

Police spokesperson, Ana Naisoro earlier confirmed that a 19-year-old woman alleged that she was raped by the man at a Suva motel, while the second report is of a 20-year-old woman who is also alleging that she was also raped at a motel.

In both these cases, the man and the alleged victims met through facebook.

In the third case, a woman says that she was allegedly raped by the suspect at her home in Vatuwaqa. The suspect promised to conduct some work for the woman under false pretence.

The man was apprehended last month as a bench warrant was out against him for cases of obtaining financial advantage by deception and he is wanted for questioning regarding the rape cases.

In a separate case, Police are requesting information regarding Viliame Wate Kubukawa who is wanted for questioning by the Sigatoka Police for a case of making off without payment.

It is alleged he failed to settle his bills after staying at a resort along the Sigatoka Coral Coast. He owes close to $10,000.

In another case he is wanted for allegedly fraudulently obtaining e‑tickets online on the 1st of this month.
