The Tui Macuata, Ratu Wiliame Katonivere said he has decided to become the Vice President of the proposed FijiFirst because the people in the rural areas have benefitted a lot from the developments undertaken by the Bainimarama led government.
Katonivere said he did not have to think twice about his decision to join the proposed party.
He said he has to think about what is best for the people of Fiji and not focus on the politics of the past where the ordinary people lost out.
The proposed Fiji First Party will now wait for the registration process to be completed by the 28 day period before starting the planned campaign for the September 17th general election.
Leader of the proposed party, Voreqe Bainimarama submitted the 40,083 signatures of members and paid the registration fees of $5,005 to the Supervisor of Elections and Registrar of Political Parties, Mohammed Saneem yesterday afternoon.
Doctor Jiko Luveni is the President of the proposed Fiji First Party.
Tui Macuata, Ratu Wiliame Katonivere and former Fiji Labour Party senator, Bijai Prasad are the two Vice Presidents while Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum is the General Secretary.
Vimlesh Kumar who is an accountant and an affiliate member of CPA Australia is listed as the treasurer.
The list of signatures for the proposed Fiji First Party is the biggest compared to the other registration applications.
The National Federation Party applied for registration with 7,385 signatures, the FLP applied for registration with 8,172 signatures, the Social Democratic Liberal Party applied for registration with 8,689 member signatures while the People's Democratic Party registered with 6,269 signatures.
