A Fijian man has faced court charged with aggravated sexual assault following the alleged violent rape of a woman in Sydney’s south‑west.
The 49‑year‑old woman was walking along Moore Street in Liverpool when she was allegedly hit from behind and sexually assaulted about 10.30pm on Sunday.
The woman reported the incident to authorities immediately and attended Liverpool Hospital where she was medically examined.
Following extensive inquiries, detectives from the State Crime Command's Sex Crimes Squad last night arrested 22‑year‑old Manasa Qoro at Macquarie Fields police station.
Appearing at Campbell Town Local Court today charged with aggravated sexual assault, he did not apply for bail and is due to face court again next January.
A search warrant was today executed at Qoro's home as part of an ongoing investigation with detectives spotted leaving with a large number of evidence bags.
