The Fiji women’s 7s team has kept its medal chances alive and is through to the medal quarterfinals of the Rio Olympics women’s 7s competition.
They thrashed Colombia 36‑0 in their final pool match early this morning to book a quarterfinal clash with Great Britain.
Fiji led 24‑0 at halftime and scored six tries in the match.
Raijeli Daveua crossed over the try line twice.
This was a strong comeback for the Fiji women’s 7s team after they were thrashed 36‑0 by Australia yesterday.
The Fijiana 7s team beat USA 12‑7 in their first pool match.
Fiji will face Great Britain in their quarterfinal match at 9 this morning.
In other quarterfinals, Australia will meet Spain at 8am, Canada will face France at 8.30am while New Zealand will clash with USA at 9.30am today.
Fiji will meet NZ or USA in the semifinal if they beat Great Britain in the quarterfinal.
The semifinals start at 5.30am tomorrow while the women’s 7s Olympic final will kick off at 10am tomorrow.
