Fiji Under 23 soccer team warming up

The Fiji Under 23 soccer team has set a new record of registering the biggest score‑line in a professional soccer match.

This happened as Fiji hammered Federated States of Micronesia 38‑nil in its second pool match of the Pacific Games.

Antonio Tuivuna scored ten goals for Fiji, Christopher Wasasala scored nine goals, Iosefo Verevou and Napolioni Qasevakatini scored five goals each, Garish Prasad scored four goals, Manasa Nawakula scored three goals while Tevita Waranivalu and Savenaca Nakalevu scored a goal each.

Fiji has beaten Australia soccer teams record who had scored 31 goals against Samoa in 2009.

Fiji now has four points after two matches.

Fiji’s last pool match will be against Tahiti at 4pm Tuesday.

Meanwhile, weightlifter Seruwaia Malani collected three bronze medals for Fiji this afternoon in the Pacific Games.

She finished third in the Women’s 58kg Snatch, Clean and Jerk and the overall.

Fiji’s other weightlifters are currently competing in various categories.

In Basketball, the Fiji men’s team will play Papua New Guinea at 9 tonight.

The Fiji Women’s team beat New Caledonia 85-40 in its first match.

Looking at the Pacific Games medal tally, Papua New Guinea is leading with three gold medals, New Caledonia is second with two gold and two bronze medals, Tahiti is placed third with three silver medals while Fiji is fourth with three bronze medals.
