People can expect the construction of a new wing to the Lautoka Hospital in the near future.
Minister for Economy Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum made this announcement while speaking to the people of Lautoka this morning during the Budget Consultations for the 2019/2020 National Budget.
Sayed-Khaiyum says that the new wing will have 300 beds and is part of the agreement with Aspen Medical of Australia who will be running the operation of the Lautoka Hospital from July this year.
He says upon the agreement there will also be a 24/7 open heart surgery available in Lautoka and Fijians will not have to travel overseas to access such services.
The Minister also highlighted that people from other Pacific Island countries will be able to come to Fiji for those surgeries and will bring with them new money which will further contribute to Fiji’s economic growth.
