The Leader of Opposition, Sitiveni Rabuka says due process must be allowed to take its course to ensure justice is done and without prejudice to the rights of the Prime Minister, Voreqe Bainimarama or any other accused person being investigated by Police.
In a statement, Rabuka says SODELPA urges the Prime Minister to make himself available to the Police for interview following the complaint regarding the alleged assault of NFP MP, Pio Tikoduadua.
Rabuka says there should be no hindrance for those witnesses who have evidence to present themselves to the Police for interview.
He says most importantly, any materials relevant to the matter should be released to the Police to assist in their investigation.
Rabuka says the law should be applied equally and swiftly to bring out the truth on the issue rather than being delayed.
Attorney General, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum had earlier said that the government will let due process take it’s course in relation to the allegation by Tikoduadua against the Prime Minister as Tikoduadua has reported the matter to the Police.
Sayed-Khaiyum says no one should become the judge and jury, and let the investigation take it’s course as there are facts which are in dispute.
Police Commissioner, Sitiveni Qiliho has said that he will not make any comments as they deal directly with all complainants regarding any allegations being made.
