As Chief Justice Anthony Gates announced his retirement that will take effect from the 7th of April, Justice Kamal Kumar has been appointed the Acting Chief Justice with effect from the 8th of April.
The President, on the advice of the Prime Minister, has appointed Justice Kumar until such time when a substantive appointment is made.

Justice Kumar has served on Fiji’s High Court since 2013.
He is also the Chairperson of the Human Rights and Anti‑Discrimination Commission.
