Bainimarama to announce his cabinet soon

Prime Minister, Voreqe Bainimarama is expected to choose his cabinet ministers in the next few days.

The FijiFirst has secured 32 seats in parliament and Bainimarama will now assess and decide on who takes up ministerial posts. 

Under the constitution, parliament has to sit within 14 days after the parliamentary seat declaration is made.

The FijiFirst led government is also expected to decide on who they will nominate as the Speaker of the House of Representatives.

The vote for the new Speaker is expected to be taken after the nominations during the first sitting.   

Meanwhile Bainimarama has thanked his family for all the support he has received over the last eight years.

He has also thanked the members of the military and the supporters of FijiFirst as he enters parliament within the next few days.

The opposition will be made up of the Social Democratic Liberal Party which has 15 seats and the National Federation Party which has 3 seats.     

SODELPA Leader, Ro Teimumu Kepa will be the Leader of Opposition.
