Judge Advocate to give sentencing brief tomorrow in Navy court martial

Judge Advocate Jiten Singh, will deliver his sentencing brief tomorrow in the Court Martial of the four Navy officers who are facing charges in relation to the grounding of the naval ship, RFNS Kiro on Belcher Reef on 14th July 2016.

The Prosecution while submitting the sentencing submissions to the General Court Martial said the maximum penalty for the charges is two years imprisonment.

They also submitted to consider penalties such as lowering of ranks, fines, reprimand, and forfeiture of seniority or dismissal from service.

The court was also told that the RFNS Kiro was provided through aid by Australia.

Lt Samuela Cikaitoga, Lt Commander Saula Tuilevuka, Lt Ben Salacakau and Mike Brown have pleaded guilty to charges relating to negligence of duties.
