43-year-old Saroj Naidu, a mother of two young daughters and the wife of the Late Police Constable Radha Krishna says she lost a gem of a person when she lost her husband in December last year.

While speaking at the Fiji Police Force Remembrance Day at the Police Mobile Unit in Narere, Naidu who is the National Manager Customer Care at Carpenters Motors has described the late Krishna as her mentor, and the person who had motivated her throughout her life and has given her the strength to be at the place that she is right now.

Naidu’s 44-year-old husband was earlier diagnosed with diabetes and later on told that he had kidney failure for which he needed dialysis.

The 43-year-old who got emotional while sharing her experiences said she will never be able to forget what her husband has done for her and her two daughters and will always walk on the path that he has paved for her.

While speaking at the event, Acting Prime Minister and Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum says that it is critically important for us to understand that the Police Force plays a pivotal role in the law and order and security of our country.

He said that in this day and age of Non-Communicable Diseases, we have to be careful, we have to ensure that we exercise regularly and eat appropriately.

Sayed-Khaiyum adds that we need to take care of ourselves so we can spend more time with our family members.

Earlier this year, Commissioner of Police Sitiveni Qiliho had revealed that 10 police officers die every year due to Non‑Communicable Diseases.

Qiliho also highlighted that from 2015 to 2017, 38 police officers had passed away due to NCD’s.
