Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka has instructed the Minister for Policing and Drug Enforcement Ioane Naivalurua to look into the drug issue as a personal priority.

He highlighted this while responding to questions on fijivillage Straight Talk with Vijay Narayan about efforts to cut the drug supply, as drug kingpins have not yet been rounded up, and about drug rehabilitation centres.

He says the establishment of a drug rehabilitation centre in the Fiji Corrections Service establishment will go ahead very quickly. Rabuka says they have identified a former government quarters, which will be used as the initial part of the cooperation between the government, the police, and the Salvation Army.

He says the facility will be used for those on the streets to get counselling and get them away from drugs.

When questioned about what he is doing in relation to the rot in the Police Force as there have been allegations that corruption is also making drugs thrive in Fiji, Rabuka says this is something the new Commissioner of Police and the new Minister of Police will have to sort out.

Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka

Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka has made it clear that Ministers who will not be performing will be moving out, irrespective of who they are.

While responding to questions on fijivillage Straight Talk with Vijay Narayan on key performance indicators for Cabinet Ministers and what they have to achieve year after year, Rabuka says they have their objectives, mission and vision statements.

Rabuka says he can easily call those up and look and see where they are, whether they are going to achieve what they have to achieve in a year or not and they also look at the legislative program that was given by the President to read at the opening of each session of the Parliament.

The Prime Minister says he will draw the attention of the Ministers to the budget book and they should now have a very good indication of how much of that budget they have used since we are halfway through the financial year.
