A major investigation is underway following the discovery of a gun and several rounds of ammunition on board a vessel in the Viti Levu waters.
We have reached out to Police Commissioner, Rusiate Tudravu, the Fiji Revenue and Customs Service, Army Commander, Major General Jone Kalouniwai and Minister for Policing, Ioane Naivalurua.
In response to the question last night on whether Police and FRCS in a joint operation intercepted a yacht and found a large amount of guns, Commissioner Tudravu said they have opened an investigation to look into the findings of the joint team.
Tudravu says they will release more details once they are able to establish more detailed information in due course

Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka has congratulated the Fiji Revenue and Customs Service and the Fiji Police Force officers for successfully intercepting the yacht and weapons in Viti Levu waters.
Rabuka made the comments to fijivillage News after confirmation of the yacht intercepted with an undisclosed amount of guns.
The Prime Minister says in his address to FRCS Officers in Nasese on World Customs Organization Day, he stressed the importance of being vigilant.
Rabuka says he challenged them on the recent big hauls of drugs to improve their vigilance or they would be suspected of being a rogue organization.
