We can end Tuberculosis, but only if we stand together.

That is the message from Subdivisional Medical Officer Nadi, Dr Amos Zibran to community health workers during their training, which coincided with World Tuberculosis Day and is normally celebrated on March 24th.

Dr Zibran says TB remains a significant public health challenge, affecting individuals, families, and communities across Fiji and the globe.

He says while we have made strides in diagnosing, treating, and preventing TB, the battle is far from over.

He acknowledged the invaluable contributions of Community Health Workers, saying their dedication and tireless efforts are crucial to our TB control efforts.

Dr Zibran declared, “Yes! We Can End TB,” reinforcing that the theme is more than just a slogan — a call to action urging commitment, innovation, and collaboration to defeat this disease.

The Subdivisional Medical Officer says this disease continues to claim lives, with the most vulnerable populations bearing the brunt of its burden, but despite the challenges, the day was also filled with hope and appreciation.

He told the workers that they should ensure early detection, support patients through treatment, and educate our communities about prevention.

Dr Zibran told them their work saves lives, and we owe them our deepest gratitude.

He urged health workers to renew their commitment to ending TB, saying to advocate for early testing and treatment, support those affected, and work together to eliminate the stigma associated with this disease.
