The people of Serua Province are asking for assistance from Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka if he can assist the province with an investor that can invest in opening a bottled water factory at Navutulevu Village, where they claim that two natural water sources were discovered.

During a talanoa session with the Prime Minister at the Pearl Resort, Reverend Lisala Tuivuya of Navutulevu Village says an investigation was conducted by the Department of Environment in 2015 at Navutulevu Village where they discovered two water sources.

He says last month, he enquired at the Department of Lands and Mineral Resources about the investigation and collected all documents regarding the two water sources.

Reverend Tuivuya says they would like an investor to come and build a bottled water factory where the people from the 14 provinces can be employed.

He adds one of the things he has seen is that most of people are unemployed, some have moved overseas for greener pastures, while some have left school and are staying in the village.

He says constructing a factory at Serua will also reduce the transportation cost.

Responding to the question by Reverend Tuivuya, Permanent Secretary at the Prime Minister's Office, Pita Wise says they will discuss with the Ministry for Lands and the Mineral Resources Department on the investigations carried out at Navutulevu.

He says they have some investors that want to invest in the usage of natural resources, such as water.

Wise says he will be visiting Navutulevu with the staff from the Ministry of Lands, where they will be discussing with the resource owners on how they can assist.
