As schools across Fiji prepare to reopen tomorrow, Minister for Education Aseri Radrodro has called on teachers, parents, and guardians to take greater responsibility for their children and reduce time spent on yaqona consumption.

Radrodro made this appeal during a special church service held at the Centenary Church, where children and families gathered to seek spiritual guidance and encouragement for their educational journey.

Radrodro expressed his gratitude to the Methodist Church of Fiji and other Christian congregations for their unwavering support of the education sector, noting that these organisations collectively manage over 900 schools across the country.

He emphasized that without their leadership, more children might have ended up on the streets or in prison, jeopardizing the future of the next generation.

Radrodro also stressed that learning begins at home and in schools, making it the shared responsibility of parents and teachers to guide children on the right path.

During the service, the Assistant President of the Methodist Church of Fiji and Rotuma, Reverend Jone Vuto, highlighted the importance of education and the role of faith in overcoming life’s challenges.

As the new school term begins, the blessings and support from families and communities are expected to inspire Fiji’s children to strive for success.
