Love and reconciliation are at the heart of today’s purpose as we celebrate Christmas and the good news of the birth of Jesus Christ.

Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka highlighted this in his Christmas message saying this is a special time of the year when we come together with our families and as a nation to celebrate the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Rabuka says more than 2,000 years ago, Jesus Christ was born in a manger to the Virgin Mary in Bethlehem highlighting that in the simplicity of the manger, we see the humility and beauty of God, who gave his only son to be born in such humble surroundings to reconcile humanity with the creator.

He says Christ’s birth radiated a shining light from the humblest of places, illuminating the world with hope and salvation.

The Prime Minister also emphasized that the message of Christmas is one of truth and reconciliation both with God and with our fellow countrymen and women.

Rabuka adds while Christmas lies at the heart of every Christian denomination, its universal message resonates with all, regardless of faith, whether we are Christians, Muslims, Hindus, followers of another faith, or agnostics, the message of Christmas reminds us to care for and love one another.

He also encouraged everyone to find joy and peace in seeking the truth this Christmas and to be guided by the love of Christ as we step into the new year.
