We need to enhance our service and relationship with the people of Fiji and aim to continue the Reconciliation and Restoration Program early next year while strengthening our connection with international military forces that have shared their defence programs with our military.

This was highlighted by the Commander of the Republic of Fiji Military Forces, Major-General Ro Jone Kalouniwai, during his closing address at the Queen Elizabeth Barracks in Nabua yesterday.

The Commander says the RFMF must continue the Reconciliation and Restoration Program next year and enhance its collaboration with international military forces to further benefit from shared defence programs.

Major General Kalouniwai acknowledged the contributions of international defence partners and emphasized the value of learning from their programs to strengthen Fiji’s defence capabilities.

He also reiterated the military's commitment to maintaining peace and stability within Fiji, stressing that a strong connection with the community is vital to the success of its initiatives.

While commissioning several high-ranking officers, the Commander urged them to lead by example and to embrace their roles with integrity and dedication.

He encouraged all officers to prioritize professionalism, discipline, and collaboration to ensure the RFMF continues to fulfill its mission effectively.

The Commander also extended his wishes for a peaceful and joyous holiday season, encouraging everyone to reflect on the spirit of togetherness and resilience.

He says as everyone celebrate Christmas, let us remember the importance of community and the responsibility we all share in building a safer and stronger Fiji.
