The Queen Victoria School U18 rugby side survived a comeback from Suva Grammar School to book their place in the Vodafone Super Deans final next Saturday after the game ended in a 14-all draw.
The game was awarded to QVS as according to the FSSRU guidelines, the team that scored first will be given the win if a draw is reached.
QVS led Marist 14-6 at halftime.
The second half was filled with excitement as Grammar made a comeback to score a last minute try at the stroke of fulltime to lock the scores with Grammar’s Semisi Turaganivalu missing the conversion which gave QVS the win.
QVS Assistant Coach Epeli Kalou acknowledged the commitment shown by the players to hold off the attacks from Grammar.
He says they will review their game and work on the areas they see that need to be improved.
Meanwhile, Natabua High School is currently leading Marist Brothers High School 17-15 in the second U18 semi final.
Looking at other results,
In the U14 grade, Marist beat RKS 26-15 and Suva Grammar thrashed Lelean 19-0.
In the U15 grade, RKS defeated Grammar 17-14 and QVS lost to Marist 24-0.
In the U16 grade, QVS defeated Marist 19-7 while RKS beat Natabua High School 18-10.
In the U17 grade, RKS thumped Marist 25-8 and MGM beat QVS 15-11.
In the U19 grade, RKS thrashed Lomary 22-3 and QVS beat Lelean 15-12.
The Vodafone Super Deans and the Weetbix Raluve Trophy semi finals are held at the HFC Bank Stadium.
