SODELPA MP Lynda Tabuya has been acquitted of her charge of Malicious Act by Chief Magistrate Usaia Ratuvili this morning.
This comes as the Director of Public Prosecutions applied to withdraw the charge against her in court.
Tabuya's lawyer Adish Narayan then asked for Tabuya to be acquitted as it would prevent the DPP from continuing the case.
He had told the court that the past 6 months had been a long time for Tabuya as this has constrained her during the COVID-19 Response Budget and the 2020-2021 National Budget.
Narayan had also said that the bail conditions had also constrained her ability to communicate with her supporters as she was ordered to deactivate her Facebook account.
She was charged by Police for her post on social media in relation to COVID-19.
It is alleged that Tabuya had posted on her Facebook account in March this year that the government brought Coronavirus to Fiji.
She had earlier pleaded not guilty to the charge.
