Whoever it is, we will deal with those sensitive issues at that level and I’m sure if they are children of senior government people - the parents will want the rule of law to be applicable to everyone in the same manner when dealing with the Queen Victoria School bullying and assault cases. That’s the oath taken by all civil servants, including ministers.
Those are the comments of Minister for Education, Aseri Radrodro after some alleged that one of the perpetrators is the son of a senior official, and it may end up with a cover-up.
When asked by fijivillage News, Radrodro says he is not aware of who all are involved in the bullying at QVS.
He stresses that his job is to ensure the school is a safe environment for learning.
Radrodro says the investigations by the Ministry of Education and law enforcement should reflect the extent of the bullying and the key players involved.
He says as he has said earlier, whoever is determined to have been involved will have to be dealt with by the law, and if there is a cover-up happening, it must be denounced in the strongest terms.
Radrodro says in every situation, there are always explanations, let us allow the students voices to be heard, and they must be accorded the audience to explain themselves.
He says at the end of the day, violence and bullying must never be tolerated because it leaves a lifetime experience where many grow up harmed with mental trauma because of untreated cases.
Radrodro says Fiji must give trust back to our people, especially our children, and that’s what he wants to be done.
