Children will no longer have to pay for an echo scan at the CWM Hospital or wait for weeks to months for scans after the International Women’s Association donated a new echo machine to the CWM Children's Hospital today.

IWA President Judy Compain says today is a significant milestone in their ongoing efforts to support and enhance healthcare services for our children.

She says this gift has been made possible through the generous contributions of their dedicated donors and partners and this machine was a part of the doctors’ wish list late last year.

Compain says the Association of Banks in Fiji contributed $50,000 and the Reserve Bank of Fiji donated $20,000.

She adds through these donations and the charity ball, they are able to provide the hospital with this echo machine which cost $101,297.

The Association President says the echo machine will play an important role in the early detection of congenital heart defects and rheumatic heart disease in our children, facilitating timely prevention and improving their overall well-being.

She adds this means that more children will receive the care they need promptly at CWM, leading to better health outcomes and a brighter future. She acknowledged and thanked the dedicated staff of the CWM Children’s Hospital for their tireless efforts.

Compain says it is their hope that it will support the staff in their valuable work and make a significant difference in the lives of the children they care for.

She says all the members of the IWA kindly ask is that the utmost care is taken with this echo machine and that it remains within the walls of the CWM Hospital as intended to assist our precious children.

Compain says today’s handover is not only the delivery of a machine, it is about the power of community and collaboration and it is a testament to what we can achieve when we come together with a common purpose.

Attending the handing over ceremony was the Association of Banks Chairman Haroon Ali, board members and trustees of IWA, staff from the Reserve Bank of Fiji, staff at the Children's Hospital and the CWM Administration.
