Basic errors and poor decision making proved too costly for the Swire Shipping Fijian Drua in their 38-15 loss to the Hurricanes at home in round 9 of the Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific competition tonight.

The crowd reacting to some crucial calls made by the referee was a turning point in the game as well.

The Canes scored the first converted through Billy Proctor in the 6th minute to take an early 7-0.

The Drua replied with a converted try to young flyhalf Isikeli Rabitu in the 9th minute to lock the scores at 7-all.

The Canes scored their second converted try of the night in the 14th minute to regain a 14-7 lead.

Jordie Barret extended the Hurricanes' lead to 21-7 with a converted try in the 35th minute.

The Hurricanes scored another converted try at the stroke of halftime to lead 28-7 at the break.

The Drua started the second half well with an unconverted try to Kitione Salawa to trail 28-12.

Kemueli Valetini kicked a penalty for the Drua in the 69th minute to increase their points but still trail 28-15 before Barrett increased their lead to 31-15 with a penalty in the 72nd minute.

The Hurricanes put the final nail on the coffin in the 82nd minute with an unconverted try to keep their winning streak going.
