The Fiji Navy Maritime Law Enforcement Operations including Forward Base West, Navy personnel and partner agencies apprehended several suspected vessels involved in illegal fishing activities.

The Fiji Navy says that a significant operation conducted revealed the use of dynamite, a highly destructive and illegal method of fishing that poses severe risks to marine ecosystems.

They say their collaboration with the Fiji Police and Fiji Fisheries has been instrumental in these successful operations, showcasing the importance of joint efforts in combating illegal activities.

The Navy says they will continue to patrol our waters vigilantly, ensuring that our fisheries are protected and to ensure the integrity of our maritime resources.

They also warn that those who engage in illegal fishing practices will not be tolerated.
