The Fiji Cancer Society is targeting $600,000 in its fundraising activities to cater for the increase in requests for diagnostic tests.

This was revealed by Fiji Cancer Society CEO Belinda Chan during the 2024 Pinktober launch at Albert Park this morning.

Chan says the diagnostic tests do not come free, and this is where their fundraising activities comes in to help them in terms of funding.

She says the organisation provide funding and assistance to their patients, and all the patients need to do is register as there are no charges for the services that the organisations provide.

Chan adds that the Fiji Cancer Society provides diagnostic tests for their cancer patients to allow them to do staging and also to determine the treatment that needs to be planned for a particular patient.

She says they are grateful to be partnering with Oceania Hospital and CWM Hospital as they are now taking the surgeries which means that the organisation and the patients don't need to pay for allowances for the operating theatre team and the nurses.

Chan further says they are looking to start fundraising again by August next year or earlier because the number of patients are increasing and there are a lot more people that need support and direction.

Meanwhile, hundreds of people turned up in numbers to participate in the Pinkwalk, the launch of the 2024 Pinktober.
