What more needs to happen for someone - anyone - to finally listen to the plight of the people.
International Women’s Association Fiji President Judy Compain is asking this as the elevators at the CWM Hospital are not working and is particularly affecting patients who need surgery.
Compain says she has spoken up, pushed hard, and advocated relentlessly for this issue.
She says the response remains the same: “No thank you, International Women's Association Fiji, We have the money.”
The IWA President says now the elevator at the Operating Theatre has been out of order for weeks, disrupting surgeries and critical care.
She says at the same time, the elevator at the Maternity Hospital/Lancaster Ward is frequently out of service, causing endless delays and frustrations for patients and staff alike.
Compain asks how much longer must these vital services be neglected.
She says this is not just an inconvenience, it is a crisis that directly impacts lives.
The IWA President says enough is enough, as the time for empty promises has passed.
She says immediate action is needed to restore these essential facilities and prioritize the health and well-being of those who depend on them.
Compain says despite their offer to replace the Children’s Hospital elevator, they were told that tenders had been called and issued, but till now there is still no elevator.
She says she has also raised the issue with Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka, Minister for Health Dr Ratu Atonio Lalabalavu, Deputy Prime Ministers Manoa Kamikamica and Professor Biman Prasad.
We had sent questions to Minister for Health Dr Lalabalavu and Permanent Secretary for Health Dr Jemesa Tudravu yesterday, and are still awaiting their response.
We have also sent questions to Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Professor Biman Prasad.
