Villagers of Tubarua in Naitasiri are calling for safer access to Nasauvere Primary School for their children as they have to cross the river and walk for about 1 hour every day to school.

While speaking to fijivillage News, Nemia Wakanikoba of Tubarua Village says their children always struggle to cross the river to reach school.

Wakanikoba says children as young as five years old walk for more than an hour from their village to the school.

He says students who live far from the school usually stay in the boarding facility and return home on Fridays.

Wakanikoba says about 30 children from his village attend Nasauvere Primary School.

The 34-year-old also highlighted that the villagers are requesting government assistance to build a bridge and improve the road they use, ensuring the safety of their children.
