5.6 offshore earthquake occurs 38 kilometres North East of Tubou

No threat of a tsunami

Fiji has recorded an offshore earthquake measuring 5.6 on the Richter Scale at about 10.10am this morning.

The Mineral Resources Ministry’s Seismology Department says the earthquake occurred at a depth of 549 kilometres and was located 38 kilometres North East of Tubou, Lakeba, Lau.

There is no threat of a tsunami.
