21 players have tested positive for drugs at the 2024 FMF Inter District Championship at Churchill Park in Lautoka.

Fiji Football Association CEO, Mohammed Yusuf says a total of 180 players were tested and this marks a significant increase from 7 in last year's results.

Yusuf says the players who tested positive were immediately suspended and will face the Fiji FA Disciplinary Committee.

He says penalties for first-time offenders include a three-month suspension and a $200 fine, payable by both the player and their district, second-time offenders will face a three-year suspension and a $500 fine while repeat offenders will get a three-year suspension and a $500 fine payable by both the player and their district.

The disciplinary committee will determine whether to adjust the penalties.

Yusuf also addressed the rumours circulating on social media, regarding Rewa player, John Orobulu who had tested negative.

He adds people should stop spreading fake news and tarnishing someone's image and if he had tested positive, his name would have been blocked in their Comet System.
