It was a glamorous and exciting night for those that attended the Koro Makawa fashion show last night at the Fiji Museum where emerging designer and performance artist Jedidiah Taylor also showcased his first collection.
KuiViti Creative Director, Epeli Tuibeqa, showcased his 3 collections that have their stories to tell.
Tuibeqa says his first collection is called Koro Makawa which is inspired by the Fijian bure and the earthy tones, the second collection is made from off cuts and is eco friendly, while his third collection is Sa Dre Ko Malolo which means sunset in i-Taukei and it the hues of sunset colours.
He says he is always inspired by the Fijian culture and growing up he saw how his family dressed up to go down to town and for festivities during holidays fueled the passion he showcased.
The designer says he plans to open a shop and do a show in the USA and retell our stories from the perspective of an I-taukei young artist.
He says he is excited to be opening a shop at the Flee Market tomorrow and opening an online shop in Australia and the UK in the near future.
Tuibeqa adds Jedidiah Taylor a young and upcoming fashion designer showcased his Tuwisi collection and found his inspiration from the bird of paradise.
