Health Minister, Dr. Ifereimi Waqainabete has confirmed that they have started the procurement process for a new boiler at the CWM Hospital.
Waqainabete says it will take a few months to get the new boiler because we do not make it in Fiji.
He says urns and kettles are still being used to boil water at wards at the CWM Hospital following a fire in May this year which destroyed the laundry on the ground floor and boiler in the basement.
Waqainabete says at the moment they are utilising a private laundry.
He adds they were temporarily using Lautoka Hospital for laundry services until they are able to find the appropriate laundry service that fits the needs for hospital and hygiene safety.
Waqainabete says this offers them an opportunity to relook at the laundry service, do consultation and see whether they should rebuild their laundry or continue it as an outsourced service.
