Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama,  visited the burnt down Degei House double-storey dormitory at the Ratu Kadavulevu School yesterday.

He was briefed by the RKS Principal Pio Veivoli and the Commissioner Central, Josefa Navuku on the state of the school and the burned dormitory.

Bainimarama has instructed senior Education officials to work closely with his office and other relevant authorities to ensure that the needs of the students are quickly met.

During his visit, Bainimarama was also able to secure mattresses and beddings through the assistance from the Office of the Commissioner Central.

Bainimarama reassured teachers and the RKS family of the government's assistance in meeting the needs of the 158 students that were affected because of the fire.

Last Friday night, the double-storey Degei House dormitory at Ratu Kadavulevu School in Tailevu caught fire which started from the second floor.

The cause of the fire is yet to be determined.

All students were safely evacuated and were accounted for but lost most of their belongings.
