Eight people have lost their lives to Leptospirosis this year.

The Ministry of Health says three cases were recorded shortly after the bad weather experienced over Easter weekend.

The Ministry says it continues to monitor the number of Leptospirosis cases in Fiji despite a decrease in the number of cases in the cold season.

A Leptospirosis outbreak was declared in the Central Division in January this year.

The Ministry is reminding people to maintain a clean environment and assist them in their efforts to reduce the spread of communicable diseases.
