CEO of Nausori and Nasinu Town Councils, Anurashika Bari

The Nasinu and Nausori Town Councils have temporarily reduced the working hours for salary staff who are mostly working in non-critical areas, where there has been a reduction in the workload since the implementation of COVID-19 related restrictions.

The CEO of Nausori and Nasinu Town Councils, Anurashika Bari says these staff will be working one day less per week in June.

Bari says this temporary measure was necessary because of the drastic decline in their cash inflows and the need to move fast to conserve enough cash for the sustainable delivery of essential services like garbage collection, sanitary and market operations.

Bari says they had the collaboration and guidance of the National Union of Municipal Workers during the decision-making process.

She says they will continue to regularly review the COVID restrictions, economic and financial situation with the intention to revert to normal hours as soon as practical.
