Over 200 families in over 40 villages throughout Vanua Levu have been assisted with school supplies for children by RC Manubhai and Company.
Families were assisted with bags, books, shoes and stationary for children of all age groups starting from Year 1 to Year 12.
The company says in families where there is no regular income and those adversely affected due to the effects of COVID-19 and TC Yasa, and now TC Ana, the main priority shifts to food and bills. It says finding money for school uniforms, proper shoes, books and simple stationary often becomes impossible and when children don’t have what they need to fit in, school starts to feel like the worst place in the world.
RC Manubhai says partnering with a local NGO such as FENC Fiji enabled them direct access to see thousands of parents register to get assistance and in association with other donors, the RC Manubhai team were able to assist these families prepare their children for the school year ahead.
The team had volunteered pledge ambassadors from their various branches and departments who took on the challenge and fundraised to make this initiative happen.
The company says children are our country’s future and many have to endure various hardships just to get formal education.
