People living in Tavua and nearby areas will now have access to better mental health care after the opening of the Tavua Health and Wellness Centre at the Tavua Hospital which is fully funded by the Fiji Water Foundation.

Foundation Director Semisi Lotawa says this stands as a testament to what they can achieve to uplift and empower those around them which rebuilds lives, instil hope, and champion the cause of mental health and psycho-social support.

Lotawa says with the opening of the health centre, 5,000 individuals will have direct access to mental health services, and 500 will receive crucial medical supplies.

He says their support for this initiative is a reflection of the broader spectrum of their work at the Fiji Water Foundation as they strive to create impactful changes in various thematic areas such as access to clean water, education, and sustainable community development, always with a lens on health and wellness.

Lotawa says this unit is a critical component of the vision, providing a sanctuary where their employees, families, and the wider community in Tikina Naiyalayala and Yaqara Valley can receive the care they deserve, a beacon of hope, a sanctuary for healing, and a place where every individual, regardless of their circumstances, can find support and solace.

He also says that the Tavua Hospital stands as a pillar of health care where people will always find care and comfort, where the health services provided are a testament to the enduring bond they share with this land and its people.

Lotawa also acknowledged the dedication of Empower Pacific.
