Owner of Kuruwai Unique Enterprise in Kadavu, Lanieta Kuruwai, believes she has been blessed entering the New Year after receiving assistance to boost her dedication to her craft and business.
Kuruwai received a sewing machine, an iron, a kettle and materials such as tetron, cotton, silk and accessories through the Trade Enhancement Programme under the Ministry of Trade and SMEs.
Her business has served the Vunisea region for over a decade with custom-made dresses, shirts and uniforms, becoming a cornerstone of Kadavu’s economy.
With this support, Kuruwai’s business now generates $1,500 to $1,650 per month, depending on the orders she receives.
She has become a trusted local seamstress, known for her attention to detail and passion for her craft.
Her story is a testament to perseverance, community support, and the impact of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in transforming lives.
Her journey inspires others, showcasing the potential of MSMEs to stitch together a brighter future for her community.
