The Fijian Elections Office has noted speculation about a recount and has made their stand that this is not true as there are no recounts.
Supervisor of Elections, Mohammed Saneem says that as they start releasing the final national results tally, there seems to be a misconception that this is a recount.
Saneem also confirmed that rumors regarding the 584 venues to be recounted is not true.
Saneem adds that they have also noticed some people on social media photo shopping screen-shots from the Fijian Elections Office result App.
The Supervisor of Elections says that they are verifying all fake news to ensure that Fijians are not easily swayed by fake news.
Meanwhile, the Fijians Elections Office says that the data in the Final Tally will eventually add up to the results that they have uploaded in the provisional results.
Saneem says that Final Tally is a legal document which will be printed and handed over to the Electoral Commission, therefore, the data entry is done from the beginning directly from Protocols of Result.
The Fijian Elections Office says that their IT systems for results are completely 'off‑grid' to protect them against any attempts to infiltrate the system.
They have also stated that a video which is being circulated which obviously has sound recorded over it to create confusion is fake as all Elections Office live feeds are from CCTV cameras and does not emit any sound.
Counting of ballots are done by Fijian Elections Office counting teams manually.
Final results continue to be inputted by officials at the National Results Centre this hour.
