Preparations for the Fiji Day celebrations are progressing well in the Northern Division.

Labasa Town Council’s Special Administrator Vijay Chand says the Northern Division is proud to be hosting national celebrations for Fiji's 48th independence anniversary.

Chand says that more than 400 members of the Republic of the Fiji Military Forces held dress rehearsals at Subrail Park yesterday.

The programme will begin with a march from Y‑Corner to Subrail Park by members of the civil service, private sector and over 1,000 students at 10am tomorrow.

Fiji Day will be celebrated in all four divisions this year.

Permanent Secretary for Defence, Osea Cawaru had earlier stated that the celebration venues will be Navua for the Central Division, Lautoka for the Western Division, Levuka for the Eastern Division and the main celebration will be held in Labasa.

He also highlighted the theme for this year’s celebration is   “Progressing together‑Leaving no Fijians behind”.
