The new Royal Fiji Naval Ship, Kacau was officially commissioned yesterday.
Fiji Navy Commander Captain Humphrey Tawake, stated that with the inclusion of Kacau to the Fiji Naval fleet, this would enhance their capabilities.
Tawake adds that Kacau would be integrated into the fleet to help with their Hydrographic Surveying and to also participate in joint exercises.
The RFNS Kacau is a Hydrographic Vessel that will help the Fiji Navy in the measurement and description of the physical features of the coastal areas.
It is also manned by a 34 member crew and is fully automated.
The commissioning for RFNS Kacau has taken place today adding a new capability for the Republic of Fiji Navy in terms of hydrographic survey and maritime surveillance
